Reminder of the time
Creation chained by debts amassed
Toll the bitter chime

And plump grapes on the vine
But fail not to pay your dues
And toll the bitter chime

And bellies filled with wine
Pay the hand that sees you fed
And toll the bitter chime

To brigand, born to crime
Merchant, servant, ranger, serf:
Toll the bitter chime

The morel and the pine
Take them not for granted, rather
Toll the bitter chime

Curios of iron
Revealed not by mortal thought
So toll the bitter chime

Gifts from the divine
Given but not guaranteed
So toll the bitter chime

The sacred march of time
Bastion built to staunch the void
So toll the bitter chime

A part in three, a tithe
Bring your wealth up to the altar
Toll the bitter chime

Toll the bitter chime?

Toll the bitter chime

And sanctify the shrine
Mourn, but vow to ne'er neglect
To toll that bitter chime

The morning light will shine
Bear your burden, bow your head
and toll the bitter chime
