Gray Starstone is a Key Item item in Salt and Sacrifice. Key Items are known as main important items that are necessary to progress. These Key Items include objects such as Keys and Items for Quests. These grant users access to next locations allowing them to move further within the game. They can be obtained through drops or found throughout the different Locations.
Salt and Sacrifice Gray Starstone Information
Every few levels, you will be granted a Grey Starstone which can be used at the Skill Tree to unlearn a previously unlocked skill node. Doing so will transform this item into a Black Starstone which you can then reallocate into another skill of your choice.

Where to Find Gray Starstone in Salt and Sacrifice
Gray Starstones are rewarded to players as they level up just like Black Starstones, with the difference being Gray Starstones are not given every time you level up, but rather every few levels.
Alternatively, Players who choose Smuggling as their character's Crime at the Character Creation stage receive the Signal Lantern Item at the start of the game, which can be can be traded to the Blueheart Runners faction NPC in Treachers' Grotto for 5x Gray Starstones.
