Great blocking, Earth Spikes hit for as much as the blade does and solid all-round damage in the early game

I'm on Playstation, and my heavy attacks for this weapon class are different. I've seen videos of players using cross guard strikes, but all I can do is a lunge and pommel strike. Is this just a bug for PS?
Not shown is another tier 5 two-hander, the blade of valor. Purchasable after beating the two that remain, with low base damage but very good b/b str/dex scaling.
