Not sure if its from the last patch, but Merchant Raury (the Blue Runners vendor) also sells a Vanguard Weapon now, the Hazecraft Machine (Class 5 Vanguard). Unfortunately it requires 50 tokens to buy and PVP is dead these days.

while they are still best for a defensive playstyle, they are definitaly the weakest option in the game overall.
cons
extremely limited dmg type choice
zero vangaurd unique weapon skills
no defensive weapons skills ingeneral which i think brings down the game as a whole. (vanguards could have been the tanks weapon of choice for team set ups with them having a bunch of cool defensive buffs and counter skills)
pros
only weapon type to have 100% blocked dmg (on 3 of them)
good for rage builds that use a focus weapon as a builder for rage so they can spam the skill
probably the best looking weapons in the game (in my opinion idk i love shields)
good primary for strength mages who want a strong defensive primary
overall while they are the weaker weapon type in the game they are far form useless, if you like having a shield or simply fine one with a skill you like to spam they can be just as strong as other weapon types.

Vanguards are a pretty disappointing with their options. 4 non-elemental options that you have to find; all but one having no runic arts, fire represented with 3 1/2 options, 1 1/2 cold options that only sport one runic art, 0 poison options, 0 light options, and 0 dark options. Then to top it all off; we get a terramancer vanguard for one more non-elemental option, which at least has runic arts.
I feel like we could've tossed the Skallin and Rootspoken Vanguards to cover up some of the missing elements. I can't believe we didn't get a Thaumancer Mace and Shield, or a Kinetomancer Axe and Shield (who has a ring for increased block power!). Maybe we can get more stuff later on; but considering the first S&S never got new weapons. . . its a pretty sad state for this weapon class.

paladin is such a confuse skill tree.
-start with conviction but early better weapon come with forbidden path.
-best block ratio weapon with only dex scaling
so my paladin 1st playthrough had gone with two-hander and never use vanguard anymore.
It's a shame we can't mix and match weapons with shields anymore.

Redscar is not divine, its forbidden(since its a mage weapon).
Vanguard of Dawn is not forbidden, its divine. What the hell is this wiki page...?
