This weapon carried me on its proverbial shoulders when no one else did. The first Divine Glyph in particular is great to knock the mob away from you, it's a true heaven sent
This is my waifu weapon. In this lengthy comment I will try to explain why it might be yours too.
First if all, while it does have "slow hitter" modifier, in-game difference is actually minimal compared to their hammers. I have completed the whole game with it and had never even noticed the slower speed. It probably has something to do with bludgeon move set, because usually "slow hitter" weapons do feel unwieldy.
And it does nice extra 10-30 because of a "slow hitter", which makes it deal most per-hit base damage if all maces.
But it is not only good for bashing heads. The two runic arts this weapon features are also quite impressive.
The first one creates a rather slow homing bubble that seeks an enemy, deals around the same damage as light attack, and deals great poise damage. Or straight up blasts enemy away. You want to either spam it as a ranged attack or use it once before going in, so even if you miss your first melee hit, bubble will catch up and likely interrupt your enemy.
Second art creates bubble rain. The rain is quite dense and each bubble explodes on impact with generous aoe damage, which is, by the way, the same damage as the first runic art.
This spell is great for crowd control and is INSANE for dealing with big enemies, since they will catch a lot of bubbles and suffer great damage and stagger. And most mages are quite big.
Make sure you invest in your strength and conviction, since this weapon is scaling heavy, and you will be greatly rewarded.
