Skills for Salt and Sacrifice is a combat and character progression mechanic of the game. There are various types of Skills such as Active and Passive Skills, where active skills provide access to different moves and attacks, while passive skills focuses on adding numerical value to the character's stats or even granting permanent effects. This page covers a list of all the Skills in the game.

Leveling up and How to obtain Skills

Skills in Salt and Sacrifice are earned as players level up.  Each time players level up by spending the required number of Salt, a skill point called Black Starstone is earned and every 5 levels you’ll also acquire 1x Gray Starstone. Black Starstones can be used to unlock nodes on your Skill Tree, while Gray Starstones allow you to recover Black Starstones by unlearning a node. Players may spend the Black Starstone, by allocating it to the desired Skill in the Tree of Skill. 

As players enter the Tree of Skill menu after leveling up, they will notice that some Skills will display a dark purple glow. Those are the Skills players are able to select. The ones that don't glow up, can't be selected until a Skill connected to it is acquired.

Are there Skill Restrictions?

There aren't Skill restrictions in the game, any Class can decide to level up any Skill. There is, however, a connection that must be respected in order to unlock certain Skills. Players need to earn a "neighbor" skill first in order to acquire one located further up in the Tree of Skill.

Can I respec my Skills?

Every five levels, players earn a Gray Starstone, that allows to unlearn an skill, granting you the corresponing Black Starstone/s to spend on a different one. Some Nodes can also require 2 or 3 Startstones to be unlocked, so make sure to plan accordingly.

 

 

Skill Tree

While the Skill Tree can be overwhelming at first glance, it’s actually very simple to understand. There are two types of main nodes, Stat Nodes and Class Nodes.

Stat Nodes:

These are the smaller ones and they simple provide +1 to a certain stat. For example “Fortified Strength” increases your strength by 1. Once unlocked, you can keep boosting the same stat up to five times on the same node by spending additional Black Starstones.

Class Slots:

These nodes are bigger and can only be unlocked one time. They provide both stats and the ability to use a certain type of Weapon, Armor or Runic Art. For example, the “Class 3 Vanguard” requires 2 Blackstones. Once unlocked, it will provide +2 to Strength and allow you to equip Class 3 Vanguard Weapons without penalties.

Weapons and Armor don’t have requirements other than unlocking their respective Skill Tree Nodes. You can use any weapon or armor even without unlocking its node, but you’ll suffer from several stat penalties.

    • I'm building a paladin and trying to figure out what to specifically spec towards. It seems like endurance is more important than any other stat for my build. I've been putting all of my points to endurance and getting the armor that I want. The starting weapon (dagger) and great hammer have been fine for taking out the mages. Why should I level conviction if none of the weapons available to me scale off of conviction?
