Vanguard of Dawn is a Vanguard in Salt and Sacrifice. Vanguard of Dawn scales primarily with Strength and Conviction. AnonymousProbably the best overall Vanguard weapon. Definitely worth using for a high Strength/Conviction build.

Updating my own info. Flame strike is not empowered by first ability buff. But the first ability does hit behind you, and fairly hard at that.

Good overall weapon, scales well with stats. Great blocking stats for what that's worth. Light attack spam is fast, heavy attacks do a variety of sword and shield moves. Second runic ability does a quick horizontal flame slash that has perhaps three times the normal reach, and it IS empowered by the first ability buff. Also, casting the first ability does damage to things right next to you- in front for sure, not sure about behind.

before others makes the mistake too( waste of skill points), the runes from the vanguard of dawn are divine, not forbidden
Perhaps the S changes something but the "25/25" soft cap appears to be wrong for vanguards.
Both this and the dragon one scale way better with strength all the way to 40 compared to conviction Below 25. To the point that you probably should ignore conviction outside of getting glyphreader 4 and undoing the conviction points between the actual skills and get banereader 1 for the ice one to get the chill DoT.
The damage actually gets impressive for how fast they are and the shield attacks stagger must have an incredible modifier to it
Pretty much every other vanguard is straight up terrible though. The fire one is easily better skills than dawn but requires a weird stat build to get good damage
